In 1772 James Duff together with Juan Haurie, two of the main protagonists in the history of Sherry wine, founded a company to which Thomas Osborne Mann would later join as a partner. A prominent wine merchant and industrialist, he promotes and develops the business, a work that will later be continued by his widow, Aurora Böhl de Faber y Ruiz de Larrea. While her children were minors, Aurora marked the future of the company by making the wise decision to opt for its continuity after the death of her husband, eventually acquiring 100% of the company in 1857.
